Job Title: User Experience Designer Location: Foster City
The User Experience Designer will define the look-and-feel, information flow, and user interface for MarketLive’s flagship e-commerce application. User Experience Designers practice multiple disciplines (Visual Design, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, User Research) with the goal of developing highly usable software applications. Responsibilities: - Conceptualize, create and iteratively refine user interfaces to make them contextually easy-to-use and visually compelling.
- Create visual designs: UI layouts (widgets, patterns, color palettes, graphic assets, typography, iconography and user interface elements).
- Create interaction designs: UI mock-ups (from paper-and-pencil concepts to wire-frame designs to high-fidelity prototypes that convey the interaction model).
- Create/enhance information architectures: Site Map, Navigation, information structures.
- Write detailed User Interface Specifications, including CSS and Adobe Flex component specification
- Design and participate in usability studies; translate usability and field research findings into actionable design improvements.
- Develop reusable design patterns and style guidelines.
- Present design work and rationale, helping the team assess the work based on the product and persona goals rather than personal opinion.
Qualifications: - 5+ years doing Visual Design, Interaction Design and/or Information Architecture for application interfaces.
- Demonstrated experience with User-Centered Design.
- Strong visual/graphic design portfolio with information/application focus.
- Understanding of interface and interaction design principles as they relate to Rich Internet Applications (RIAs), or an equally compelling combination of web site and desktop application experience.
- Experience creating or maintaining style guidelines in a software environment.
- Experience in designing and running usability test programs.
- Exceptional communication (both written and verbal), organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and within a dynamic environment.
- Experience with common graphic design and Web design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
- Experience with common wireframe and visualization tools (Visio, Axure RP, iRise).
- Adobe Flex knowledge is highly desirable.
E-commerce experience is highly desirable.
